Use one job search engine to search the top job sites, company sites and online newspapers. There are a variety of job search engine sites that will search all the job sites and even the search engines to capture new job postings.

The Top Job Search Engine Sites
Job search engine sites, including Indeed, Simply Hired, and Jobster, allow users to search the major job sites, company sites, associations and other online job sites by keyword and location. Some job search engines provide results via email, others generate a list in your browser. You may need to weed through the results to find listings that meet your needs, but, these sites are resources that should be included on your list of job search sites to be checked regularly.

How Well The Job Seach Engines Worked
All the sites I looked at start with a basic search - keyword and location. I searched for "graphic designer" in Huntington, NY, using the same basic search on each site.

SimplyHired generated 124 job listings.
Several were duplicates from Manpower, one was in Greenwich, CT (that would be quite a commute!) but the others were relevant to my search. In defense of technology, if Long Island Sound wasn't there, the commute would be viable. The "apply now" button brings you to the site where the original job was posted. There is also an option to email the listing, as well as a link to LinkedIn so members can see if they have a connection at the employer. There are buttons available to map the job and to check average salaries for jobs in your state.

The same search on Indeed.com generated 149 listings.
Again, there was a Connecticut listing, but, the others were recent job postings from a variety of sources. Indeed.com offered options to refine the search (to Senior Graphic Designer, for example) and to set up an email alert for the search term or to email the listing.

Jobster worked really fast.
I got less listings than from the other job search engine sites, but, most were relevant. I did get a few in Connecticut, but, again that's the fault of Long Island Sound. There is a neat map that shows exactly where each job is located, as well as a map that shows your potential commute.

Just Posted's job search engine took a little longer than the others to generate results. Even though I really did search for "graphic designer" in Huntington, NY and it told me so at the top of the page, the first result was for San Antonio, Texas. Other listings were in California, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Oregon and other locations throughout the country. There were a few close to Huntington, but, the majority were elsewhere in the country.

The Best Job Search Engines
In summary, SimplyHired, Indeed and Jobster did the best job with my search. The search results showed the job title, a link to the posting, a brief description of the position, where it was located and where it was originally listed. The results are easy to read, uncluttered with extra information and the navigation is simply and user friendly.
